Deb Fischer To Go On Statewide Campaign Swing Across Nebraska

July 15, 2012

Following NEGOP Convention, GOP Nominee Deb Fischer Will Make Stops In Butte, O’Neill, Bassett, Stapleton, North Platte, Sidney, Ogallala, Scottsbluff, Alliance, Bridgeport, Lexington, Hartington, and David City.

LINCOLN, Nebraska, July 15, 2012 - Fresh off her well-received speech at the Nebraska GOP Convention in Grand Island, the Deb Fischer for U.S. Senate campaign today announced that Sen. Deb Fischer will be going on a statewide campaign swing across Nebraska from July 16th to the 22nd to meet with voters.

“I’ve had the honor of traveling over 55,000 miles to meet thousands of Nebraskans. I’m looking forward to putting a few thousand miles more on my car to visit with old friends and meet many new ones,” said U.S. Senate candidate Deb Fischer. “I always enjoy campaigning the Nebraska way—meeting with voters face to face and discussing the issues affecting our great state and country.”

A lifelong Nebraskan, Deb Fischer has represented the 43rd Legislative District in the Nebraska Unicameral since 2004.

As a state senator, Deb Fischer helped pass the largest tax cut package in state history, balanced the budget eight times, and cut millions of dollars in wasteful spending. Fischer has earned a reputation of being a commonsense problem solver and a key ally of Governor Dave Heineman. Her record of producing results has won her admiration from Nebraskans on both sides of the political aisle.

Last legislative session, Fischer introduced and led the successful passage of LB 84 to fund the lifeblood of Nebraska’s communities–its roads. Fischer’s work was praised as “an achievement that has evaded other state officials for too many years” by the Lincoln Journal Star.

In her U.S. Senate campaign, Fischer has proposed a bold and detailed agenda to shrink the size of government, empower small businesses, and get the economy back on track.

She supports fully repealing Obamacare and passing commonsense, market-based reforms to lower health care costs and increase competition.

To reduce our nation’s debt and ensure government lives within its means, Fischer supports a Balanced Budget Amendment and reforming the nation’s tax code.

Fischer has also offered a plan to stop illegal immigration and secure our nation’s borders.

Additionally, Fischer has released a plan to reform the culture of Washington and put an end to career politicians. She supports term limits, banning elected officials from becoming lobbyists, and passing tougher ethics laws and transparency standards to hold our elected officials accountable.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Fischer attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a B.S. in Education. She has been married to her husband Bruce for over 40 years and they own a ranching business near Valentine. On the ranch, they raised their three sons, all of whom have returned to live and work on the family ranch.

Deb Fischer, the Republican nominee, is running against Democrat nominee Bob Kerrey in the U.S. Senate race.
